Angelsoft 2.1 Release

We are proud to announce that a new version of Angelsoft was successfully released on Saturday. This release includes over 200 updates, including a number of new features and a long list of bug fixes. The full release notes are here. The most notable updates are below.

New Features:

  • Custom Application Questions: One of our most requested features was the ability to add questions to the entrepreneur application. Find this feature under Group Admin>Customize Entrepreneur Funding Request>Application Questions
  • Quick Subgroup Creation: Creating a subgroup, such as a screening committee or a board of directors, is an easy way to organize group members internally. We simplified the process by letting you create subgroups on the fly. When you are selecting people to send a Deal Alert or Event to, check the Save as Subgroup box. From now on you will be able to send a Deal Alert or Event to that entire group as opposed to selecting the members one at a time.
  • Granting Access Easily: Granting access to deals is now as easy as sending a Deal Alert or Event Invitation. Deal Alert and Event invitees are automatically given access to the deal.
  • Bulk Invitation: For those of you who have their membership list in Excel format, you can now bulk add them to Angelsoft. Find This feature under Group Admin>Manage Group Members>Create New Member>Bulk Import From File

Bug Fixes:

  • No More Timeouts Both Entrepreneurs and Angels complained that they would get timed out of the system if they remained logged in for too long. Now you are free to leave Angelsoft open as long as you like without getting kicked off.
  • Time Zone Issues: Some users were reporting issues with incorrect time zone handling. We fixed the problem and made sure each groups time zone was set properly. Make sure we set your correct time zone by logging in and clicking Group Admin>Group Profile>Group Time Zone

We hope these changes, along with the many other fixes, improves your Angelsoft experience. Let us know your thoughts. feedback@angelsoft.net

National Angel Organization Summit in Banff

Angelsoft recently sponsored the National Angel Organization Summit in Banff, CA on October 2nd and 3rd. The team, consisting of Evan Bartlett, Jason Scwartz, and Ryan Janssen, attended the event.

One of the highlights was Dan Mothersill unveiling an a new book called "Age of the Angel: Best Practices for Angel Groups and Investors v1.0″. Available here online. It's an extremely comprehensive guide covering everything from the benefits of belonging to an Angel group all the way through tips on syndication across groups. Dan refers to it as a "strongly presriptive" manual based on best practices written by Angels for Angels.

Ryan Janssen, from Angelsoft, also introduced a panel on "Angel Issues From an Individual and Group Perspective". A very fitting topic considering the range of issues Angelsoft helps Angel groups manage throughout their process. Panelists included Cathy Favre from the Newfoundland and Labrador Angel Network, Ross Finlay from the First Angel Network Association, and Peter Kemball with Acorn Partners.
